Our Service times

9.30am.  This is our main service of the week and follows the liturgy from Common Worship, including variations that celebrate the seasons and festivals of the Christian year. The service includes two Bible readings, a sermon, and prayers. We also enjoy singing and our repertoire includes a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs, for which we are accompanied by our beautiful organ and our small choir. We also use CDs or mp3.

This service is offered in the following ways:

2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month – Service of Holy Communion. The focus of our worship at these services is the celebration of the Eucharist, or Lord’s Supper. All are welcome, including children, who have free access, during the service, to our children’s corner and who are welcome to receive a blessing at Communion time.

1st Sunday of the month – Family Worship with Baptism. We are blessed with many requests for baptism (or christenings) and these take place during this service. The focus here is very much on the sacrament of Baptism, and we aim to provide a particularly warm, relaxed and enjoyable worship space. Holy Communion is not celebrated on this occasion, but is usually available at our sister church, St Andrew, Holmfield at the later time of 11.15am.

3rd Sunday of the month – Holy Communion Service with Parade (3 times a year; once during each term). In these services we are joined by the wide range of groups in our uniformed organisations, and our style of worship aims to include our children and young people as much as we can. We try to worship God in a fun and light-hearted way while also taking seriously our call to be disciples of Jesus. On those Sundays when there is no Parade, the service will as one of Holy Communion as on 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month.

Tea and Coffee is served after all our 9.30am services in the adjacent Parish Centre.

This is good opportunity for fellowship and getting to know each other better, and if you are visiting, we would welcome the opportunity to say “hello” over a nice cuppa.

10.00am every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month – Said Holy Communion Service. This is a quiet, reflective, service, usually including a short address (homily), and a good opportunity to start the day with prayer and the sacrament.

We would be delighted to welcome you at any of our services.
